Band History

Super Size Seven was founded in December 2002 in Solon, Iowa, by the existing members of the band. What started out as stress relief for Mark & Steve soon turned into something more once Emmet was added to the mix. The chemistry of this contemporary rock band is easily apparent on stage and off; they love music and love performing, and it shows.

These guys grew up together, and the way they read and feed off each other is uncanny. Their mission is simple - to play music that people want to hear and to crank up the energy until everyone is having a good time, no matter where they play, no matter how big the crowd. They give it everything they've got, and then a little more. Their focus and goal is to get people out into the live music scene wherever they play by being entertaining and playing music that is recognizable and upbeat.

Super Size Seven first appeared in February 2003 at Chester's in Cedar Rapids. The bar workers were quickly overwhelmed with the masses of people that came out that evening. This initial show helped propel the band forward, and they haven't looked back since.

The most common remarks heard about a Super Size Seven show are how much fun the band has on stage, their tremendous ability to select great songs, and the incredible harmonies and vocal ranges they are able to maintain while putting on a very high-energy performance. Simply put, these guys are a blast to watch! The highlight of the show is undoubtedly their rendition of some great 60's songs, cranked up a few notches, that just packs the dance floor.

A Super Size Seven performance always includes a wide variety of contemporary and original rock music. Artists they cover include new groups like 3 Doors Down, Nickelback, Hoobastank, Good Charlotte, Blink 182, and The Dave Matthews Band, as well as a few standards by bands like AC/DC, Blondie, Gin Blossoms, and Motley Crue. Mixing those with The Monkees and Neil Diamond makes for a very diverse and entertaining show!

The band has played numerous venues around Cedar Rapids: Chester's, 3rd Street Live!, Cocktails & Co., Kat's Lounge, Muddy Waters, and many private parties for graduations, weddings and just for fun. Future plans involve the release of an EP containing several recordings of their best original work, and expanding their fan base by branching out from Iowa to Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, and elsewhere in the Midwest. The bottom line is, what you get when you go to see Super Size Seven is a great rock show. That's what you want, isn't it?
