Band History
A recent Cedar Rapids transplant from South Dakota, Anji Kat brings to the area music scene the stark simplicity of her beautiful home state. It was her grandfather, a self-taught jazz drummer, who dubbed her “Anji Kat” and introduced her the world of music. Anji lends pure vocals to both original songs and cover tunes, effortlessly blending folk, jazz and blues stylings with a sprinkling of prairie-sunshine pop. She writes and sings from the heart, calling to mind the influences of such greats as Eva Cassidy, Jewel, Diana Krall and Linda Ronstadt. She is currently working on her first solo album, “Moving On.
