Band History
Austin Taft is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently residing in Waterloo, IA. His full-length debut album, "Beneath The Sun and Beyond The Reach of God", has been released by the independent label Triple Edge Records and is currently available on iTunes, Amazon.com, Zune Marketplace, CD Baby and other online retailers. In addition, a brand new EP is being developed and will be released in Spring 2011. With these releases, Austin Taft is weaving a tapestry of eclectic songs that has no filler and takes no prisoners. All songs are entirely self-composed, self-produced and self-performed.
The Austin Taft Soundtrack has built a strong reputation for high-energy live performances, opening for such national acts as Days of the New, Powerman 5000, Tantric, Future Leaders of the World, (hed) p.e., and Caroline's Spine. The band also frequently headlines shows featuring up to three hours of non-stop original music. Many of the debut album’s tracks have become staples of the bands’ live performances including: “Nighttime Rainbow”, “Waterproof”, and “Polaroid”.
Since its inception, the band has performed in a variety of venues across Iowa including (but not limited to) Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Northwood, Ames, Muscatine, Fairfield, Ottumwa, Marshalltown, Oskaloosa, Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Recent highlights include 2010 performances at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines and the Iowa Rockfest at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds in Keosauqua.
