Description
Brucemore announces the opening of a temporary exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, a tragedy that continues to resonate with people today. On April 11, 1912 the RMS Titanic set out on her maiden voyage carrying over 2,000 passengers. Two members of Brucemore’s Douglas family, Walter and Mahala Douglas, were among at least 36 passengers aboard the Titanic with connections to Iowa. Personal accounts, documents from the Douglas family archives and excerpts from local newspapers, will engage audiences in the real-life experiences of the disaster. Unsinkable Stories: 100 Years Later will be free to the public and will run through July 31 in the Brucemore Visitor Center.
