National Old Time Folk/Country/Bluegrass Acoustic Music Festival & Pioneer Exposition of Rural Lifestyle
Going for 37 years this oldest festival west of the Mississippi is a gathering of thousands of like-minded acoustic music lovers. Seven days long with ten sound stages, more than 650 artists flock to Iowa to participate in this event that also attracts celebrities like Patti Page and Bill Anderson in 2010; Jim Ed Brown, Little Roy Lewis, and Helen Cornelius in 2011. 2012 is no exception with Ralph Stanley on tap. Musical contests, workshops, hundreds of jams, and stage performances from 9am to midnight every day. Great country food, RV camping with electricity, and only two blocks to a grocery store. Free dump station. Arts and Crafts everywhere, plus a rendezvous tipi village which features the International Busking Championship. Join the folks in 2012 as they set a Guiness Book of World Records for celebrating Minnie Pearl's 100th birthday...yelling "Howdeeee" the loudest and the longest. Free potluck and free gospel warm-up on Sun Aug 26.
