Join your Marion Hy-Vee for our Chefs in Training Cooking Camps where you will participate in fun nutrition activities and learn how to make scrumptious snacks! Junior Chef Camps are intended for children ages 9-13. Registration is required. Session 1: June 11-15
Morning Session: 9 a.m. to Noon; Cost: $15/day or $70/ full week
Afternoon Session: 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Cost: $10/day or $45/full week

June 11 - Simple Supper Solutions
The Sous Chefs in Training Classes will explore new ways to create tasty and nutritious meals. You will learn basic cooking skills that you can use at home to fix meals for your friends and family. If you are already a cook or have never cooked than this is a great way to learn!

June 12 - Grocery Store Scavenger Hunt
In this class you’ll take a tour of the Marion Hy-Vee store learning about healthy choices you can make and the NuVal nutritional scoring system. You’ll also help shop for all of the ingredients that will be needed to prepare this week’s recipes.

June 13 - Stirring Up The Pot Description: Think soup is the only food made in a pot? Think again! This fun class will teach you how to be use pots and pans to create delicious cheese dips, chocolate treats, monster cookies, blueberry muffins and more! Stir up your favorite ingredients to make great tasting snacks that are sure to be crowd pleasers.

June 14 - Bake, Decorate, Celebrate!
Your wedding might be 20 years away, but it’s never too early to learn how to bake, frost, stack and decorate your own cake for your next Birthday! Students will learn various techniques of working with fondant and butter cream, stirring up chocolate, yellow and strawberry batter. From the oven to the tiers, we’ll explore every aspect of baking the best cakes. Cake Boss here we come!

June 15 - Taste Bud Travels
Are you ready for the trip of a lifetime? In just one day, we’ll cook and eat our way about the world. We’ll travel country-to-country, learning about customs and traditions in places like Italy, France, Madrid, Brazil and Spain. Children will learn cooking skills while experiencing culinary flavors in places we all dream of traveling to. Bon Voyage!
