DESCRIPTION:The Englert Theatre is excited to present free\, family-friendl
 y performances of The Perfect Pig on Saturday\, June 2nd during the Iowa Ar
 ts Festival. The thirty-minute concerts\, performed by the Iowa City Commun
 ity String Orchestra under the direction of conductor Carey Bostian\, will 
 be held at 10am\, 11am\, and 12pm.

\nThe special event will combine wor
 ds\, music\, and art in a fun\, accessible way. Composer Philip Wharton has
  once again teamed up with author Janet Burroway in presenting the new chil
 dren’s book The Perfect Pig. The pages of the book will be projected onto t
 he Englert’s screen as the orchestra plays and the author reads the book’s 
 text. In addition\, Wharton has orchestrated Heinrich Biber’s violin compos
 ition Sonata Representativa\, which will be combined with verses created by
  Burroway for the performance. Penn Elementary students’ artwork\, inspired
  by the words and music\, will be projected behind the orchestra during eac
 h performance.
