Description
Based around the question “What was African like before the slave trade began?” visitors will explore 1500s and 1600s western Africa with artifacts, photos, interactives elements, and immersive environments such as a rainforest and village, set in the time period before the Transatlantic slave trade dramatically changed the face of western Africa. “Before the Boats” will teach about the cultures of west African peoples and will give examples of what everyday life was like. “Western Africa: Before the Boats” will be on display until March 30, 2014
