North Cedar High School is partnering with Duhawk Dance Marathon at Loras College and University of Iowa Children's Hospital to raise funds for children and families who benefit from the hospital. The North Cedar Community will be coming together to honor the lives lost in their community and raise funds to help more families in the future who may go experience the hospital through-out their child's life.
For many Duhawks on the Loras campus, the phrase, “It’s for the kids!” is much more than a clever marketing tool; it’s a way of life, an inspiration. We spend long, hard hours raising money for the kids; drive a cumulative 1555 miles to the Children’s Hospital each year to visit the kids, come together for 12 straight hours without sitting or caffeine to celebrate the struggles won and lost by the kids and, log over 5000 service hours to our fighting kiddos. To many, they are more than just ‘kids’, they are motivators, teachers and role models. We continue breaking records during our 8th year at Loras in order to help more families. Our big event brings the Loras community together to make personal connections with the miracle families. Dancers will experience a whole spectrum of emotions at the event including; laughter, sorrow, joy, nostalgia, tears and gratification.
