University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections and the Old Capitol Museum invite you to share your experiences cooking from historic recipes found in the vast Szathmary Collection. This month, the group will focus on recipes featuring small portions, appetizers, sandwiches, and more. A demo on how to make crostini will also be led by one of the group’s members. The Historic Foodies meeting is free to attend and open to anyone interested in discussing historical cooking methods, food history, food photography, and transcribing or recreating recipes. Participants are encouraged to try out a recipe from the Collection and bring the results to the meeting to share and discuss.
