Frequently Asked Questions

Nominating a Business Voting

How are businesses nominated for the A-List?

The A-List is a self-nominated contest. Businesses owners can claim eligible businesses, add details (hours, location, photos, etc…) to their business page and choose what categories in which to compete.

When can I claim my business?

You can claim your business any time. Officially the open claim period starts March 3, 2014.

What if I claimed a business and competed in a previous contest?

If you claimed a business in 2011 or any subsequent year, you don’t need to claim it again. If you competed prior to 2011, you will need to go through the claim process again.

How do I claim my business?

First create an account here. If you already have a username and password associated with The Gazette (for example, if you participated in the A-List in a past year), you can access it here.

What if I forgot my username and/or password?

If you remember the email associated with the account, you can send yourself a reminder here or reset your password here.

I have an account, now what?

If you have participated in the KCRG A-List previously your business should be in our database. If you’re new, we might have your business listing already, so try searching for it first here.

What if I don’t see my business in the list?

You can add your business here.

I added my business, but I don’t see it. What happened?

Our staff must approve all submissions before they appear. We will make every effort to approve all submissions within 24 hours. If you still don’t see your business listed after 24 hours, email us at

I claimed my business, now what?

Once your business has been claimed, and approved by our staff, you can log into your dashboard and enter your business into the categories you wish to compete in. You may choose up to three categories for your business.

I found my business in the list, but it says it’s already claimed and I didn’t claim it.

Email us at with your business information and a phone number. We will research it on the backend and may need to call for further clarification.

What businesses are eligible to compete?

Eligible businesses must have a physical storefront, be located in the KCRG-TV9 viewing area and provide services in an existing contest category.

What categories are included?

Find a full list of categories here.

How do I choose a category?

You can choose a category once you have claimed your business.

Can my business compete in more than one category?

Businesses can compete in up to three categories

How do I login and/or register to vote?

If you had a user account from last year and you haven't logged in since February 26, 2014, you will need to reset your password here. If you do not have an existing account, you will be asked to register and create one in order for your votes to be counted.

What if I forgot my password?

If you remember the email associated with the account, you can reset your password here.

How many times can I vote?

You can vote once in each category.

How do I change my vote?

To change a vote all you need to do is to cast a vote for a different business in that same category. The voter will be prompted to confirm that they are about to change a vote.

How are winners chosen?
